Toki (b.1916) entered the Army in 1942 and was eventually segregated, with other Japanese-Americans, at Camp Robinson. Toki and the others eventually went to Camp Shelby, Mississippi where they became part of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team (RCT), a unit composed entirely of Japanese-Americans with White officers.
